St. Andrews-By-The-Sea

After touring the Gardens, we checked in at the Europa Inn, just a half block from the Main Street and the waterfront.  Charming inn, quaint seaside town, drippy day=pub crawl on our last night in Canada.  I finally ordered the poutine, and in spite of its bedraggled look, it was quite tasty.   The next morning we headed over the border and through the wilds of Maine to Bangor.  This is Stephen King country--think Misery--very few people, backwoods-looking places.  The foliage was much more colorful than two weeks prior but still has a ways to go.  We did manage to finally see a moose, though, at the airport, that is.  Our flights were uneventful (always a blessing); my final photo is dusk at the Minneapolis airport.  We traveled over two thousand miles through the magnificent Maritimes. I am ready to return!

Cruising Through St.John

St. John, NB, is a cruise ship port.  It is also a beautiful old city with lots of patina.  We arrived in the midst of heavy rain but soon discovered that the central part of the downtown has inner walkways, the better to entertain the cruising crowd.  We headed for the City Market to pick up lunch and to browse the interesting aisles of assorted goods.  When the rain stopped, we took to the hilly streets to explore and photograph.   One church was open to the public so we popped into it.  All in all, a very satisfactory stop on the way to St. Andrews.
