Cabot Trail Part I

We took a little detour to inspect the hard-working little lighthouse that we had seen working from the nearby point all night long.  The ruins of two earlier beacons, one of which was the earliest lighthouse built in Canada, were next to it.  We bypassed Sydney, the largest city on Cape Breton, and were soon on the twisting road that would take us to Cape Breton Highlands National Park and the very famous road that skirts its edge.  Our brakes became a bit warm with all their exercise; motorcyclists dominated the road coming from the opposite direction.  As luck would have it, they were participating in a Ride for the Cure, and there were many of them! We drove to Dingwall where our hotel awaited us at the end of the road.
