Oh, wait, I was there too! He got away with my camera, though, so now I have a library of rock and fossil photos clogging up my storage space. The museum and cliffs of Joggins were everything they had promised in the literature. Only the day--chilly, overcast, and windy-- left something to be desired. We took an interesting gravel road/ short cut through a wildlife refuge to get there, but saw no sign of any life there at all. The Joggins museum is a high class operation, a World Unesco site in fact. As the tides work away at the cliffs, more and more fossils are exposed or washed out onto the beaches. Some amazing fossils have been found here, but not by us! When we left Joggins, we were looking for a place to stop for a late lunch on the drive around the coast. Horrors, we missed a meal! Everything was closed up tight, even the cafe at the charming little lighthouse had closed its doors. One final stop of the day was at the Ottowa House Museum, where exhibits reminded us of the early shipbuilding industry that existed in this area. This old house/hotel appealed to us with its decrepit wallpaper and linoleum floors from the 1940's. Too familiar.
