That is what this place is. Although a replica ( the dastardly British blasted the original one to smithereens with the help of 200 Welsh miners rather than return it to the French) and only restored to about 1/5 its original size, this fortress is magnificent. You enter at a visitors' center and them ride a bus to the site. People in period costumes greet you and give you little presentations about their characters and areas. We took a one hour guided tour, looked at the governor's house, and then ate lunch at the little tavern where the food and presentation were authentic to the period. One could have easily spent two days here, but we had roads to drive before our next stop. Impressive and mighty describes this fortress. Clearly the Canadian government was more willing to spend money on this than they are willing to spend on many of their highways.
